Fully embracing vintage

Ugly Mug?

I was quite surprised to find a vintage Fire King mug listed here . Now, I'll admit, the mug in question isn't Anchor Hocking's best effort, but it certainly doesn't deserve to be listed among the other tragedies presented there.

That's not the first time a Fire King mug has been called ugly; my grandmother had a blue Kimberly mug that my mother thought was hideous, but I loved it and took possession when my grandma passed away.

I think that Fire King's usage of bright colors and bold shapes is fabulous, but, I guess, compared to today's mostly sedate designs in dishware, I can understand why some people would find them offensive. Sort of like how red nail polish is offensive to my husband's conservative grandmother.
